Opinion: I’m Basically The Fucking Medici With This Patreon Shit

Is this a mirror? Because this is me.

To be honest, I’m basically the fucking Medici with all this Patreon bullshit.

The Medici family funded the works of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. I send five bucks a month to a leftist Star Trek podcast hosted by five comedians named Dan — it’s basically the same fuckin’ thing.

Support for the arts comes easily for me, because I know several of the Dans in question. Two of them were in an improv group with me. It was awesome. We fucking sucked.

Of course, it isn’t just friendship that feeds the money-to-artist pipeline; sometimes it’s simply calculated business relationships, forged in the hot-as-shit-fire of commerce, that get me over the finish line and convince me to support some shit.

In this case, the decision was easy because the main Dan of the show — you know, the funny one — supported my vape store board-game GoFundMe last quarter in a much publicized two figure deal that Forbes called “definitely a mistake.”

It would be bullshit, you know, to refuse to support his creation after that kinda support. Besides, the Dans said the tenth patron gets a T-shirt from the show. I bet Michelangelo never gave anyone a T-shirt for funding his statues and shit. Asshole.
