Heartbreaking: Steve Irwin’s Son Shits Into A Toilet Exactly Like Father
“It must be genetic,” says Mike Driscoll, CEO of the Steve Irwin Animal Fund. The late Australian wildlife expert’s work — and lifestyle — continues under his son Robert, who bears an uncanny resemblance to his father in newly released photos.
“From day one [of his life], Rob has been pooping every day just like his dad used to,” says Driscoll. He laughs. “I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised. Steve loved to poop and pee.”
The photos, released Thursday, have attracted widespread sympathy on social media. One Twitter user identified as littleKoala29 said, “wow it’s so crazy he looks like his dad and they both shitt [sic]. what r the chances?”
Millions liked the post.
“This brought me closer to my son, and made me think about our similarities,” says Clay Hitchens, aka Twitter user 138bikeGuru. A self-described “Irwin fanatic” who “got into nature conservation and shitting” as a result of Irwin-the-elder’s work, Hitchens has followed the family’s work closely.
“A lot of us were worried, after he tragically passed, that Steve was irreplaceable. But seeing this photo of his son also wearing khaki shorts and riding the porcelain bus makes you realize the circle of life often has other plans.”
