Coronavirus Vaccine Team Returns From Three Month Vacation Relaxed & Ready To Start Work

“Ok, let’s get going. It’s called the corona-what?”

(OXFORD, England) The world’s best virologists were enjoying the nightlife of Ibiza when word arrived: time to get back to work. They’d originally planned to stay until December and “possibly see Diplo again.”

The team will now return to the UK in a matter of days.

“Our help is apparently needed, and once we get home and get our laptops charged up — probably on a Friday so we can charge them through the weekend — we are ready to start figuring out the vaccine for this thing,” says Professor Gary Silbert, who leads the world-renowned team. “I’ve got a fresh white Microsoft Word document ready to go. We’re discussing using Microsoft Excel as well, to coordinate lunch breaks et cetera.”

The breathtaking shores of Ibiza.

The novel coronavirus continues to ravage the world economy and has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths. Several vaccine candidates are in development, though the most promising trials have been put on hold as researchers delve into unexpected side effects effecting some participants.

Silbert’s Oxford team is widely seen as the world’s best hope.

They are expected to land in London on Friday, where they will be whisked “almost directly” to Oxford University’s sprawling laboratory compound.

“We’ll prepare to hit the ground running on Monday, Tuesday at the latest,” says Silbert. “Our infectious disease lead researcher really needs to do some reorganizational work at home before we get started. Apparently her stepson moved the couch onto the veranda and it’s a whole thing. Then, once we get the WiFi set up, it’s full steam ahead.”

Diplo, through a spokesperson, declined to comment.
