Happy New Years!
I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for the last two years with my writing partner Joe Messina.
It’s a comic called Commander in Chef, and it’s available for pre-order right now!

What’s it about?
As the only survivor of an unsolved poisoning at the Annual Government Barbecue, White House Head Chef Jeffrey Owen finds himself suddenly occupying the highest office in the land. Aided by incompetent civil servants, his former sous chef (now Vice President), and a a deeply suspicious FBI director, President Owen is tasked with investigating his predecessor’s assassination, clearing his own name, leading the free world…and teaching his replacement how to make a proper soufflé.
In a world where all conspiracy theories are true, but rarely addressed, America’s first ServSafe certified President finds himself at odds with the political establishment, his vice president, genetically modified intelligent corn, a handful of Intergalactic Lizard People, several mermaids, a hostile press and a shadowy figure behind it all.
With a pinch of luck, a dash of ingenuity and a fat slice of hope President Owen tries to keep the world from boiling over.
The Indiegogo campaign page has all the details you need to know about pre-ordering, but I wanted to write my subscribers directly to let you know how grateful I am for your support of my writing this past year. Every comment, share, retweet etc. means a lot and I’m glad so many of you have enjoyed some of the stuff I’ve put out there. I think Commander in Chef is going to be a really cool project and a really funny story. Joe & I have an entire “season” planned, and future issues will be coming. We’re pursuing different avenues to get the story developed in print or animation, so stay tuned.
I also wanted to let you know that we are so incredibly fortunate to have Rachel Wells doing the artwork. We are super happy with how her vision matches ours, and how she brought both the characters and our script to life.
Commander in Chef is a very silly idea dreamed up by three idiots in a dorm room about a decade ago. Joe and I finally got around to writing it in 2019, and continued working on it through the pandemic. It’s good! I promise!
