Biden Playing Trump In Debate Prep For Some Reason
The former vice president’s campaign has begun preparing the candidate for his first debate with President Donald Trump, scheduled for September 29th in Cleveland.
A twist: in the three mock debates they’ve held so far, Biden has played the role of Donald Trump.
The candidate himself answered questions about the unorthodox debate prep in a recent conference call with supporters. “I wanna get in his head, man. You ever heard of Dan[iel Day] Lewis?”
The makeup and hair process — complete with weighted body suit — takes roughly two hours to complete, time critics say could be better spent fundraising or simply resting the 77-year old candidate. The former vice president’s supporters, however, say the unusual approach is simply “Biden being Biden.”
“We’re more worried about the recent move to bring in Woody Harrelson to play Biden reacting to Biden’s Trump,” says a senior campaign source. “I think [Biden] just likes hanging out with him.”
Harrelson, for his part, disagrees.
“When Joe starts attacking Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, you really see him get into it,” says Harrelson. “It’s amazing, he’s a natural.”
